An Introduction to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Despite oral and maxillofacial surgery's wide range and fascinating scope this discipline is frequently misunderstood by medical and dental graduates alike. At least part of that misunderstanding comes from the lack of a single cohesive source of information which covers all aspects of the subject at a basic to intermediate level.

That is the principle aim of this book.

When writing it I hoped to show the reader that the subject is not esoteric material that "someone else will deal with" but essential core knowledge every clinician should have at least some understanding of.

The approach is that of the practicing, pragmatic surgeon who deals with the conditions illustrated on a daily or weekly basis, the emphasis is on "need to know" rather than obscure detail.

I fervently hope that it will help attract a new gifted generation into this, the youngest and most exciting of the surgical specialties.
